SONYA SINGER

INDUCTED 2019

INDUCTED 2019

Sonya Singer had her first experience with competitive softball at the age of 11. She advanced up through the ranks to lead her team, the Noel Shore Shots, to seven consecutive Provincial titles and three Maritime Championships. During this time, Sonya was selected three times to play for the N.S. All Star team representing N.S. at the Canadian Junior Nationals. In 1975, at the age of 15, she sparked an eight run rally with a three run homer to defeat a highly favoured B.C. team. She added a triple, double, and single to go 4 for 4. Sonya commanded the outfield and posted a tournament batting average of .461. A showing impressive enough to earn her an All Canadian fielder award, she was the first N.S. female to be named to a National All Star team. She would go on to earn a second All Canadian award in 1979.
