2019 Inductee to the East Hants Sport Hall of Fame​

The Board of the East Hants Sport Heritage Society would like to thank the Anthony family for their generosity in directing donations in memory of Carl to the East Hants Sport Heritage Society. Donations may be made by cheque or online with instructions provided below.

Carl Anthony was a pillar in the community of Shubenacadie. His dedication to the East Hants sport community has made an impact on hundreds of athletes. The Anthony name has been synonymous with top level softball locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally for over 40 years. Carl was the driving force that grew softball in Shubenacadie throughout the second half of the twentieth century. Many years of hard work and dedication culminated in a N.S. Sr B title in 1980 and a N.S. Sr A title in 1985. Carl played a major role in fundraising for both the Shubenacadie ball field and minor hockey. In addition, he was also one of the top dart players in N.S., winning three Provincial Championships with the Shubenacadie Legion team. Carl’s true legacy may well be how his family has carried on in his footsteps as ambassadors for sport in East Hants. Sons Larry and Terry, like Carl, have made a lifetime volunteer commitment to making a difference in our community. Finally, grandsons Matt, Luke, Cody, and Alex have a long list of provincial, national, and international sport accomplishments.
